Community Needs Assessment in TEXAS regarding the need for Mental Health Services
for those who have an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability
The condition of concern for my program design is the lack of treatment for individuals who have an Intellectual or Developmental Disability (IDD) and also a mental health diagnosis. Many individuals have IDD and are not getting their mental health appropriately treated due to a lack of community education in the healthcare system, criminal justice system, and other systems.

You will write a paper analyzing yourself and demonstrating your understanding of cultural humility. Using headings, you will take your learning from the Ortega and Faller Coulburn, Fisher-Borne, Cain, & Martin, and Johnson and Munch to demonstrate your understandings of the following.
Please cite and paraphrase rather than quote so I can understand what you think it menas. There should be headings for each:
• Explain your understanding of cultural humility- particularly your understanding of the three elements.
• Explain the move from cultural competence to cultural humility
• Explain your understanding of intersectionality

You will then go back to the Identity markers exercise and determine which markers are most significant to your understanding of the world. Discuss which three to five that you picked and how they influence what your strengths are and where you will be challenged.
It is important to be open and specific in this area.
Everything that shapes us both helps us see the world and keeps us from seeing the world around us.
• Finally, you should talk specifically about your plans to incorporate the three elements of cultural humility into your learning. Take time to discuss each element.

Introduction: In one paragraph, orient the reader about the topic (topic: what are the rates of parental child abuse in elementary age students) Arouse the reader’s interest, and tell the reader what to expect in this section by identifying the major subsections which follow.
Review: Provide a synthesis of the literature review to the major varibales (be comprehensive by looking in disciplines other than social work which may impact on the topic) This section will be the bulk of the literature review. Organize your presentation to keep the reader alert.
Summary: Now tell the reader what you just reviewed in a nutshell. Enumerate the major points and reiterate gaps found. Briefly tell the reader what you are deliberately NOT going to study. In other words, what aspects of the problem are outside your interests at this point or beyond the scope of this paper? Remember you are still paraphrasing in the summary so citations are necessary.
Resate Research Question or Hypothesis: Do not just repeat it, allow your literature review to inform your question or hypothesis. Refine any ambiguous terms or ideas. THe literature presented in the literature review should inform your research questions. In other words, I should understand why your hypothesis reads as it does. I encourage you to use a heading “Research Questions” and then state research question one, hypotheis one, research question two, hypothesis two, etc)
My research question: What are the rates of parental child abuse in elementary age students?
Phase 1: Describe a practice problem (5 points)
Write a paragraph that describes a question to answer practice needs. (This is step 1 in the evidence-based practice process that is described in chapter 2). The paragraph should include:
A description of the practice needs and why it is of interest to the student
Formulation of a question to answer the practice need
Phase 2: Locate evidence to inform practice
Locate at least two empirical sources (research studies) that address the practice need and provide evidence that can inform social work practice. These should be from peer reviewed journals and must include empirical (research) evidence.
Have the two articles approved by the instructor.
Write a brief description of each study (around 150 words). The description should include (1) the question the research is investigating (2) how the research was conducted and (3) the primary findings from the research.
Phase 3: Synthesize evidence and identify next steps (5 points)
Describe what evidence you have gathered from these two articles that could inform social work practice. Write a critical analysis of the evidence that was found. Make recommendations for practice.Phase 1: Describe a practice problem (5 points)

I need 2 articles and make sure theres an intervention.
Using at least 250 words, write a substantive post addressing the following prompts.
1. Discuss the key components of the theory.
2. What two things did you learn that will be helpful for you as a future social worker?
3. What is the muddiest or stickiest point from this theory (what aspects do you have questions about)?
You will view a film such as “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” (1993) from an identified list of approved films (provided by the instructor) prior to starting this assignment. These films will be widely available on iTunes, Google, Amazon, YouTube and various other online sources for free, rent or purchase at a reasonable cost. Following the format provided in D2L, the student will present and apply a theory included in the course work to assess, develop goals and objectives, intervene, and evaluate clinical work with this family. Make sure to distinguish the difference between THEORY and THERAPY. Do not get them confused. The paper will be 8-10 pages in length plus a Cover Page and References. At least 5 peer reviewed journal article or text references should be included in the paper. The paper will be typed, doubled-space, with a 12 point font, and follow APA format (6th ed). Paper is due in week 10.
In an essay (750-1,000 words) examine the generalist model of social work practice. Address the following in your essay:
-Explain the generalist model.
-Discuss why the generalist model became the operational model in social work and its merits.
-Analyze the advantages and disadvantages to the social worker in using the generalist model.
-Describe how research impacts social work practices in the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Refer to Social Work Disposition #11: Standard: Social Workers’ Ethical Responsibilities to the Social Work Profession when responding to this prompt.
