OVERVIEW
Continuing with your proposed Research Paper Topic, you will build out your paper, arguing
your thesis and supporting your ideas with reason, good arguments, and supporting your
thoughts with credible research materials.
INSTRUCTIONS
Your research paper will include the following:
 It will be 3,000–3,500 words (about 12–14 pages) in length, be double spaced, and use
Times New Roman 12pt font.
 For documentation, you will use the current version of Turabian with footnotes and a
bibliography.
 The paper should use at least 6 scholarly sources including books, book chapters,
academic journal articles, and other peer reviewed sources. Non-peer reviewed web
sources are not allowed (i.e. Wikipedia, blogs).
 Quoted material from sources should not surpass 10% of the length of the paper.
 Each paper of the paper should have 3–4 footnotes.
 In terms of overall structure, the paper should include:
o A 1-2 paragraph introduction that introduces the topic and presents the thesis.
o A content section in which the thesis is unpacked and argued.
o A 1-2 paragraph conclusion that offers a summary analysis of the argument.
