Prompt
Choose three paragraphs from your rough publish to revise based on the feedback provided by your instructor and your peer review. You will revise the paragraphs and then submit a 200- to 300-word reflection for each paragraph describing why you chose that paragraph to revise and why you made specific changes. This means you will have three separate 200 to 300-word explanations (600 to 900-words in total) for your reflection. While we expect you to use complete sentences for your reflections, this writing does not need to have a formal structure and is comparable to a course reading response.
The paragraphs you choose should reflect the major issues brought up by your instructor in their feedback to you, either in the margins or the summary comment. If your choice of paragraphs does not reflect these issues, there will be a limit to how well you can do. At least two of these paragraphs should be from the body of your paper. If you received a high grade on your paper and did not receive substantial feedback on how to improve your essay, you will have greater freedom in your choice about what paragraphs to revise. But remember, writing is a process and there is always something you can improve upon.
Your reflections should describe your thinking during the revision process. This includes the following:
talking about different options you considered;
questions you had or have about what to do;
the writing resources you used, if any, during the process; and
how revising these paragraphs relate to your overall development as a writer, including feedback on other assignments in this course as well as writing instruction from other courses and in high school.
Your reflection should tell us the reasons for your changes and how these changes relate to aspects of writing that you are trying to improve such as organization, use of evidence, paraphrasing, or sentence structure. You must reflect upon, and not just describe, each revision. You can see examples of strong reflections here.
Purpose
The goal of the final assignment is to help you improve as a writer and apply the writing lessons provided during the quarter. You have two options to complete this assignment.Purpose
Evaluation
The teaching team will evaluate both the quality of your revisions and your reflection to determine your final grade. Make sure you address the specific comments provided by your instructor. If you have a different idea about how to best revise and reflect upon your term paper that you’d like to pursue, consult with your TA.
Here are the guidelines we will use to evaluate your assignment.Evaluation
