You probably already have some idea about what I want you to do for this week. Since this week’s module was about building study tools, I want you to build a couple of study tools for me. We talked about two basic types of study tools: Learning lattices & idea plats. I want you to create for me one of each (one lattice and one plat) for this week’s assignment. They can be on whatever topics you want them to be on. They also need to be on different topics (don’t create a lattice about brain disorders and then submit to me an idea plat comparing those same brain disorders). You only have to turn in one learning lattice, and one idea plat (of whichever type you choose – comparing, sequencing, or webbing). Option 1: You create the study tools using the computer (which can be a little hard to do, depending on what type of software your computer has and your computer skills, but very possible) and submit them to me as you usually do. The lattices are actually pretty easy to create. You need to insert a table into Word (or whatever program you type with) and adjust the column/row numbers to suit your needs. For the examples I used in this week’s notes, I used 4 rows and 4 columns. That will be fine for this assignment, just remember that you don’t need less than 3 topics and 3 questions! Four rows and columns will give you room for your 3 topics and 3 questions. The idea plat you can create in Paint, which is what I did most of mine in for the notes I gave you this week. Anything created in Paint can be copied and pasted into Word. Paint can be very tedious however! I did create the Henry VIII webbing plat in Word though, which is not that hard to do. In older versions of Word (such as Word 2003) you can click on “Insert” and then click on “Diagram” to choose what type of diagram you wish to insert. In Word 2007 or newer you can click on the Insert tab and then click “SmartArt” to choose which type of diagram you need. Option 2: You create the study tools on paper, scan them, and submit the scanned images to me via Canvas. Just make sure to write dark enough that it will scan well so I can see what you have written! There are several good scanner-type apps for smart phones, including Scannable or Camscan.Option 2: You create the study tools on paper, scan them, and submit the scanned images to me via Canvas.
