Developing and maintaining effective working relations is critical for any consulting engagement. Reflect on your interview that you conducted with your client, and imagine that you were contracted as a consultant for them.
Did you sense any resistance, reluctance, or hesitancy from the client when you spoke with them about their organizational challenge? How so?
Reflecting on your strengths and areas of improvement from self-reflection #1, do you believe that you and the client would naturally have a compatible working relationship? Would you envision needing to change your work style in some way to improve the fit? How so?
What strategies would you use to ensure that you have a strong working relationship with the client if you were contracted with them long-term as a consultant?
Each reflection should be at least 250 words long (unless stated otherwise) and should draw from classroom discussions and course readings, where appropriate. Each reflection will be graded on a pass/fail basis. However, the instructor reserves the right to give partial credit for subpar submissions, such as when parts of the reflection prompt are not answered, when clarity of writing is low (e.g., many grammatical errors and typographical errors), when the response is too short, or when there is otherwise a determination that the student did not put a reasonable effort into the assignment. Late submissions will only receive up to half credit if submitted within three days after the deadline, unless appropriate documentation of an extenuating circumstance is provided.
