The goal of this assignment is to review an exhibition, an artwork, a performance, an installation, by an Indigenous artist and then complete a review. Students are expected to research components around the work(s) or exhibition in order to gain a more full understanding and to inform an opinion about it. Details and examples will be provided in class. I expect students to gather information around the context for how and why the work(s) was created, other elements that may have informed its creation, and to better understand how it contributes to Indigenous visual culture.
1. It must be an artwork or an exhibition by an Indigenous person (Royal Ontario Museum)
On Being Legendary, Kent Monkman (October 8, 2022 to March 19, 2023)
2. Having a clear thesis / point you are arguing
3. You must include research and cite facts with a bibliography containing at least 3 sources that helped you conduct your research
