The essay will offer 2 (Two) Scenarios. This essay will focus on disease process and students will need to demonstrate knowledge of altered anatomy & physiology, medical & or therapeutic interventions and the nursing care required.
Questions:

1. Using relevant evidence, describe the condition, integrating signs, symptoms, impact features, Risk factors, types or subtypes, cause incidences and prevalence (nationally UK only please).
2. Relating your answer to the scenario, explain the anatomical and physiological changes that may occur for the patient. Complications. Initial assessments on emergency department.
3. Give details of the nursing care that may be given to the patient, demonstrating understanding of medical/surgical interventions, including medications, highlighting indications and therapeutic effects, NON pharmacogenic therapy, effects of the medication will have on the patient.(What would happen if we implemented theses nursing care plans)

scenario1 -Pneumonia
Elizabeth is an 80-year old woman, admitted to hospital due to hip fracture following a fall at home. She was due for surgery which was postponed following a spike in her temperature. She is now finding it difficult to breathe and she coughs up thick yellow-green phlegm. She has become increasingly unwell, sweating profusely and shivering. The doctors suspect that she has acquired pneumonia.
scenario 2- Osteoporosis
Samuel is a 39-year-old, who described pain to both his hips after a 6-month period of taking oral steroids due to an acute loss of vision which he eventually recovered from. Following further investigation, the GP diagnosed him with Osteoporosis, mainly affecting his legs bilaterally, which ultimately lead to a hip replacement surgery.
