First define the term Abnormal Psychology and tell me how it is different than the concept of mental illness (hint: this is a major theoretical difference between psychology and medicine with profound implications for the assumptions used to frame one’s understanding of everything we will examine in this class).
Next, describe empirical science and how it is used to inform our understanding of abnormal psychology.
Using the Diener article along with concepts from chapters 1 & 2, and other materials posted in Module 1 as the foundation for your answer, consider both the strengths and limitations of using empirical science to guide our understanding of what constitutes abnormal psychology.
