All the instructions on what is required to be in the assignment is in critical response pdf. You have to write response on White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible
Knapsack
Students will choose one of the assigned readings below and write a critical response. You may find it easier to write a critical
response if you disagree with the author. Yet, remember that critique means to analyze rather than offer negative feedback. In other
words, it should include your critical analysis and reflections by analyzing, comparing, critiquing, reflecting on personal experiences
and suggesting future action if necessary. Some guiding questions are as follows:
• What thoughts, questions, and intrigue have it provoked?
• What are strengths and shortcomings?
• Do you agree or disagree with the author’s point?
• What would you write and do differently from the author?
• What will you take away with you?
• How will it contribute to your study and life in general?
It should have an introduction, body, and conclusion. In the introduction paragraph, assess how well the author achieves their
purpose, and state whether you agree with the author’s position (giving your main opinion of/response to the article). All the articles
contain many points to defend or take issue with, and you’ll want your thesis to reflect whether you concur or disagree with the
author or whether you have mixed opinions. In the body of the critique, first, analyze the author’s purpose and how well they
achieve it. Then turn your attention to explaining whether you find the presentation of ideas convincing. To demonstrate your
position, you should refer to specific passages. (Also, note that things you have experienced in your own life can provide another
source of evidence.)
Please look at the student-written sample critique (A Critique on Denis Dutton’s Language Crimes) posted on Nexus and another
sample critique (Consuming Constructions: A critique of Dove’s campaign for real beauty) in our textbook (chapter 6) to see a good
model.
The length should be 750-800 words, excluding the cover page and references. Assignments must be typed, double-spaced (Times
New Roman or Calibri 12pt. font) and sources documented using APA or MLA. Submit it in Word Document Format. Handwritten
work will not be accepted or evaluated.
